I am excited to begin my third year as the principal at Hicksville Elementary School.  It has been an honor to get to know the students, staff, parents and community over the past two years.  Hicksville School is truly a special place and I look forward to working with all stakeholders to continue Hicksville’s tradition of academic excellence.

Hicksville Elementary School includes grades Preschool through Six, with an enrollment of roughly 540 students.  More than 60 staff members are dedicated to providing our students with the best education possible, and they continue to impress me every day with their efforts.  Our teachers have fully implemented the Common Core as well as Ohio’s Learning Standards.

At the start of last school year, we launched the “Hicksville Initiative” with a district-wide focus on:

  • a positive and uplifting climate and culture
  • high expectations for students and staff
  • student engagement in a rigorous curriculum

We accomplished many great things last year and are looking forward to continuing that momentum and building upon our successes.  Our goal at Hicksville is to equip our students with the skills necessary to pursue any academic or career path they choose upon graduation.

The relationship between a child’s school and home is a critical component of academic success.  Our teachers make a concerted effort to communicate with parents regarding student performance.  We encourage parents to check Powerschool often, talk to your child about their academic progress, and reach out to our teachers with questions or concerns.  Our students will directly benefit from our combined efforts.

We expect all of our students to make good choices, work hard in the classroom, and be an active participant in their own education.  By participating in class, respecting others, and being a positive member of the school community, our students help make Hicksville Elementary a great place to be.

Again, we are committed to providing a safe, positive, and challenging learning environment for all Hicksville students.  We work hard to serve our students and community and welcome your feedback.  Let’s work together to make the 2015-2016 school year another special one at Hicksville Schools.

Sincerely,

Travis Lichty, Principal
