Last week 5th grade students combined the idea of force and motion to create wind lifts to raise a cup of pennies. We had some creative designs. Thanks to Ohio Energy Project for the materials.




Meet our ANNIE!
Annie is played by McKenna Bergman! She is a fifth-grader at Hicksville Middle School, but this is not her first HHS show! She also appeared as Chip in Beauty and the Beast and as a party guest in The Sound of Music! McKenna is so excited to perform with this cast and says that everyone will be amazed by all of the talent! Don't miss this one!

Meet the Ensemble!
Ensemble members are the heart and soul of any show! These amazing performers do a little bit of everything and make the show come to life. In ANNIE, they play Hooverville residents, servants, NYC citizens, radio announcers, presidential cabinet members, and everything in between! They also help backstage when they can. Many of them have had to learn five to six roles for the show!
We love our ensemble!! Come see them shine next weekend!

Meet Emily Harmon!
Emily is a senior this year, and she portrays Miss Hannigan, the woman who runs the orphanage, in ANNIE. It has been a great challenge for Emily to portray one of the villains in this show! Emily's voice will knock your socks off! Come see her in her final high school show!
The show runs March 4, 5, and 6 at the Huber Opera House! Tickets are $12 at the door, and doors open one hour prior to show time. Hope to see you there!

MEET SANDY!
Sandy is played by Barrett Thomas! Barrett is everyone's favorite cast member and was voted "most similar to his character" by the cast! We also want to give a special shout-out to his awesome human, Jennifer Thomas! Jennifer helps out at rehearsals and handles Barrett backstage. She's the best!
Barrett is so excited to be in his first musical! Come see him on stage next week! The show runs March 4 (7:30), 5 (7:30), and 6 (2:00). Tickets are $12 and will be sold at the door. Doors open one hour prior to show time, and all seating is general admission.

GIRLSā DISTRICT BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT ā Hicksville will play Crestview in the District Basketball Tournament at Defiance HS on Thursday, February 24th at approximately 7:30pm. The first game between Lincolnview and Ottoville will start at 5:30pm and it will be a SPLIT SESSION. Tickets are available online at https://www.ohsaa.org/tickets . Cash tickets will be available at the gate for $10.

Meet Noah Harmon! Noah plays the lead role of Oliver Warbucks in ANNIE! He is a sophomore this year, but he has been acting in HHS musicals since he played Kurt in THE SOUND OF MUSIC in 2018. Noah is a versatile actor and has played everything from Disney characters to Buddy the elf!

GIRLS' SECTIONAL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT - The Girls' Basketball Sectional Tournament at Paulding has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 19th. Hicksville will play at 7:30pm. Tickets previously purchased online for Thursdays game will be good for Saturday. Tickets will also be available at the door for $10 cash. Sectional Finals will take place on Monday, February 21st.

Ms. Rees and Mrs. Natalie Zachrich had more science in the snow fun on Friday! A group of Science 8 students headed to the sledding hill to study the impact of friction on sledding. One group created a plan for reducing the amount of friction on the runners of a vintage sled!




Ms. Rees and Mrs. Natalie Zachrich recently challenged Science Club students with capturing snowflakes on microscope slides. The members used the new digital microscopes to take pictures of what they found. What do you think? Did we capture snow pellets?
